Science Schools Initiative, Ltd. is a 501(c)(3) recognized New York not-for-profit corporation. The mission of the Science Schools Initiative is to provide free high-quality SHSAT test preparation services to middle school children from families who cannot afford private test preparation. Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $50,000 for the 2013 program year. From tutor salaries to books to insurance costs, it takes real financial resources to run the Science Schools Initiative. For every $500, we can welcome another student into the program. We would gratefully welcome contributions of any size. We will accept in-kind contributions of textbooks, study guides, paper, notebooks, pens, pencils, laptops, and even Metrocards. We also accept non-cash donations including stocks, bonds, real property, and charitable bequests. Please email donations@scienceschools.org if you would like to contact us about giving to the program. In addition, you can make named or anonymous donations through www.justgive.org, a secure online nonprofit donation processing organization with a great reputation and a very low processing fee. As a 501(c)(3) recognized charity, donations to the Science Schools Initiative, Ltd. are tax deductible in accordance with federal law.

If you are an alumnus of the Science Schools Initiative (or The Upper Manhattan Specialized Science High School Initiative if you were in the program in the early years), we would love to hear about the great things you are doing these days. Please get in touch with us at alumni@scienceschools.org.
If you would like to get a message to a former tutor of yours (Christina, Darren, Emil, Josh, Mike, Phil, Sam, Sean, or Sue) or a former classmate, please reach out to us and we will try to pass your message along. Our tutors love to hear from their former students!
We also welcome our alumni to come back and visit the program. Every year former students come back to talk about their experiences in the program, taking the SHSAT, and attending high school. In addition, we welcome former alumni to volunteer in the program during their high school, college years, and beyond. From time to time, other organizations and foundations reach out to us to pass along information about scholarships, internships, and job opportunities that are applicable to the program’s alumni. We would like to pass this information along as well. Please reach out to us at alumni@scienceschools.org. |

The Initiative conducted a study comparing admission statistics for the Specialized High Schools with income levels in Manhattan. The statistics show an undeniable and direct correlation between income and admissions to the New York City's best public high schools. We consider it our mission to level the income-performance playing field for children seeking admission into the Specialized High Schools.
